About Free Markdown Converter
A free online tool that turns Markdown files into Word, PDF or HTML documents.
What we do
Markdown is great for writing, but sometimes you need a polished Word document, a printable PDF, or a standalone HTML page instead. We built a tool that does exactly that — upload your .md file, pick a format, and download the result in seconds.
Under the hood we use Pandoc for the conversion, with LaTeX (xelatex) handling PDF typesetting — the same toolchain used by academic publishing — so tables, code blocks, headings, footnotes, math formulas and auto-generated tables of contents all come out correctly, not just approximated.
Why it's completely free
We cover server costs with on-page ads, not by charging users. Many similar tools cap you at a handful of free conversions per month, or add a watermark unless you pay — we do neither: unlimited conversions, no watermark, no account required. This is a core design decision, not a limited-time promotion.
What happens to your files
Your uploaded file is used only to perform this one conversion. The result stays on our server for a short time so you can download it, then it's automatically deleted — it's never reviewed manually, used for training, or shared with third parties.
Language support
We've tested and confirmed correct rendering for English, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Thai, Hindi, Marathi, Bengali, Telugu, Tamil, Russian, French and Spanish, including proper typesetting in PDF output — the right font is chosen automatically based on your document's content, no settings required. Right-to-left scripts (such as Arabic and Urdu) are not supported yet for document conversion — we're honest about that rather than claiming it works when it doesn't. If this affects you, let us know via the contact form.
